It kills five types of ticks—Brown Dog Tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), Lone Star Tick (Amblyommaamericanum),Gulf coast Tick (Amblyommamaculatum), American Dog Tick (Dermacentorvariabilis) & Black-Legged Tick (Ixodes scapularis).
Brown Dog Tick is the most important parasite in India (Rhipicephalus sanguineus).
Hosts: Dogs, cats and foxes but also recorded on cattle, rabbits, hares, hedgehogs and squirrels.
Habitat: Kennels and other sheltered places.
Disease transmission: Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Hepatozoonosis & Babesiosis.
Effective against the most prevalent flea species
The chew is effective against both Ctenocephalides felis and Ctenocephalides canis flea infestations in dogs. It was shown to have 100 percent efficacy for 35 days against the laboratory flea strain KS1**.
‘Evaluation of the effectiveness of a novel oral formulation of sarolaner (Simparica™) for the treatment and control of fleas on dogs’. This strain has demonstrated reduced susceptibility to insecticides such as fipronil, imidacloprid and permethrin.
Immediate sustained & persistent killing activity
A controlled laboratory study showed a significant reduction in adult flea counts within three hours after administration and achieved 100 percent effectiveness within eight hours. The chew continued to demonstrate ≥ 96.1 percent effectiveness after infestation for 35 days**.
Prevents environmental flea egg contamination
It kills fleas rapidly before they lay eggs, reducing flea eggs production by100 percent against an existing infestation and weekly re-infestations for 35 days.
Cleans up flea infestations at home
In a study to stimulate a heavily flea infested home environment, an infestation was established prior to the start of treatment. Dogs were also re-infested with fleas on Day 7, 37 & 67. Chew administered monthly for 3 months demonstrated ≥ 95.6 percent reduction in adult fleas within 14 days after treatment and reached 100 percent from Day 60 onwards**.
