In Mumbai, the student council of Bombay Veterinary College came up with the idea of felicitating furry heroes—the Bravehearts. Almost 30 dogs from across 18 departments, including RCF, CISF, BDDS, NDRF, Airport Customs, Animal Angel Therapy Dogs, were felicitated and six lifetime achievement awards were given to retired service dogs. The furry heroes were presented with a medal, a certificate, a scarf as well as a goodie bag.

There was also active demonstration of training and rescue by dogs from the NDRF. An assisted therapy dog, Angel, gave a live performance on how she helps her disabled pet parent with his daily chores.

The furry heroes were felicitated by Dr Sandeep Karkhanis, Head of Animal Health, Boehringer Ingelheim, along with other dignitaries. Dr Sandeep on behalf of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health not only sponsored the event but also announced that the service dogs will be provided world’s first animal rabies vaccine RABISIN manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim.
