I’m: Vatsala Shukla
My pet’s name: Coco Chanel
My vet’s name: Dr Santosh Kumar
Veterinary clinic/hospital: Niti Bagh Pet Clinic, New Delhi
How I came across my vet: A friend who takes his dogs there recommended.
Do I visit the vet for regular check-up or only in case of medical condition: Coco Chanel visits Dr Santosh for medical condition when we are desperate for correct diagnosis.
How long have I been visiting my vet: We have been visiting Dr Santosh since May 2012 and will continue in future.
Toughest medical challenge faced by me and my pet: Coco’s genetic disposition to get struvites in her bladder. She was operated when a cluster formed and broke. The same got struck in her urethra. Emergency surgery was required and for two long months we had to make daily trips twice, to the previous vet to stop the bleeding. The stone formation started again and so did our nightmare.
Role played by my vet in helping to overcome it: When the prescribed tests were not indicating the source of problem we went to Dr Santosh for a second opinion. New tests and ultrasound revealed the return of the original problem but at an early and curative stage.
A special quality about my vet: Dr Santosh and his colleagues did not start the medication until they had all the reports in hand. The treatment given was effective and within three weeks, the struvites vanished. All three vets at the clinic genuinely care the pets.
A ‘Thank You’ note for my vet: Coco Chanel wants me to say a big BOW-BOW Thank You to Dr Santosh and his colleagues for making her healthy again.
