Sangeeta Kapur
Sangeeta Kapur, an animal lover and a fashion designer, lives in Pune with her aged mother and sister. One of her two apartments at Kondhwa Road is exclusively used
to house 56 cats, most of them were rescued. In her complaint, she said some self-styled vigilantes along with police officers, broke open her apartment to seize the cats and taken them to an animal shelter. The intruders alleged that she kept the pets in the house in unsanitary conditions. As per the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA)
Act, such seizure can only be done after obtaining court permission. So, Sangeeta approached the Bombay High Court, seeking return of her pets and action against the people who took them away.
