The doggo who came to stay…

Every Dog deserves a home. Dogs are our Best Friends in Sickness and in Health… No matter what I am today or will be tomorrow, having you in my life makes me feel rich.

It is likely that humans and dogs have shared a special bond of friendship and mutual support ever since at least the Neolithic period — but why has this bond been so long-lasting? Dogs have always been truly valued companions, famed for their loyalty and seemingly constant willingness to put a smile on their owners’ faces. When we interact with dogs, our oxytocin levels shoot up. Since this is the hormone largely responsible for social bonding, this hormonal ‘love injection’ boosts our psychological well-being.

Greatest gifts we ever receive

“One of the greatest gifts we receive from dogs is the tenderness they evoke in us. They bring the reliable sunniness of their disposition, the joy they bring to playtime, the curiosity with which they embrace each new experience, dogs can melt cynicism, and sweeten the bitter heart.”

When you hug your dog, and your pet appreciates this, you are mutually bonding. In you, and probably your dog, this causes a cascade of the cuddle chemicals, oxytocin, serotonin and dopamine. When you release these hormones, you experience improved mood, relaxation and lower levels of depression. Serotonin has also been linked to enhancing the immune system.

Relationship nothing can compare

Animals have enormous sensitivity and perceive a person’s state of mind, making their presence known. The gratification is undoubtedly mutual. Certainly, nothing compares to the relationship between pet parent and pet. It is a pure and sincere relationship that will not be easily broken. Human beings interact with animals in numerous ways and on numerous levels. We are indeed living in an ‘animal’s world,’ in the sense that our lives are very much intertwined with the lives of animals. This holds, despite the fact that we like to think about our dogs as human best friends.

If dogs can talk

Dogs have been part of human societies for longer than any other domestic species. Like no other species they exemplify the role of companion animals. Relationships with pet dogs are widespread and intense, often leading to strong attachments between pet parents or caregivers and animals and to the treatment of these dogs as family members or even children. Let me be honest, if dogs can talk, we might need no people. Today, I owe a lot to my fur baby for being my constant therapy in sickness, health, and distress. He brings happiness to my entire family and has already etched his place in our hearts and home. Dogs are a promising symbol of gratitude to mankind. Treat them with love and care and see what you get in return.
