29th International Conference of WAAVP held at Chennai

Under the theme ‘Parasites: Global Impacts, Local Solutions’, World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) in association with the Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Madras Veterinary College; Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), and Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (IAAVP), had organised the 29th International Conference of WAAVP from August 20-24,2023 at Leela Palace in Chennai.

Being held for the first time in South Asia and in India, core focus of the landmark WAAVP conference was to explore localised solutions to address the global challenges posed by parasites, with a strong emphasis on the ‘One Health’ concept. Attended by 350 plus overseas delegates from 56 countries as well as Indian delegates, the conference had a comprehensive programme, featuring 16 keynote speakers, 30 subtheme-based breakout sessions with 173 oral presentations and 102 poster presentations. The conference also marked the inaugural WAAVP Africa Network symposium and a satellite seminar aiming at enriching the global scientific community.
