Veterinary Excellence Unveiled: Groundbreaking Cases and Triumphs at the CSAVA 2024 Event
The All India Veterinary Clinical Case Contest 2024, hosted by the Chennai Small Animal Veterinarians Association (CSAVA) was held on September 28th at Grande Bay Hall, Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.
A celebration of innovation, clinical expertise, and veterinary excellence, the event was inaugurated by the Dr. G.R. Baranidharan, President of CSAVA. General Secretary – Dr. S.M. Aravind Kumar and Vice President Dr. A. Sangaran were also present at the event.
Uniting Veterinary Excellence
A gathering of elite small animal practitioners from across India—representing Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Delhi, and Mumbai—this landmark event set the stage for the brightest minds in veterinary science to present pioneering clinical cases in medicine, surgery, and gynaecology, focusing on canine, feline, and avian/exotic species.
- In the canine category, the first prize was claimed by Dr. Amruthanand of Cessna Lifeline Veterinary Hospital, Bangalore, for an exemplary presentation.
- Dr. Thenmozhi from Sterling Pet Clinic secured the second prize for her groundbreaking work titled “Partial Lung Lobectomy for a Solitary Right Cranial Lung Tumor in a 6-Year-Old Boxer Dog via Median Sternotomy.”
- Dr. M. Manikandan from Sanchu Animal Hospital, Pallavakkam, Chennai, took home the third prize for his innovative approach in “Neurotoxic Cobra Envenomation in a Dog Using Anticholinesterase, Artificial Ventilation, and Management of Anaphylaxis Caused by Cobra Toxin.”
The highlight of the event was the prestigious Outstanding Presentation Award and the Rolling Trophy, both awarded to Dr. Pawan Kumar of Cessna Lifeline Veterinary Hospital, Bangalore, for his extraordinary work on “Successful Management of Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (ICPSS) Using Cellophane Tape.” This achievement reflects the cutting-edge advancements and exceptional skills demonstrated by veterinary professionals in the field.
Adding to the prestige of the contest, cash prizes of Rs 25,000 for first place, Rs 15,000 for second, and Rs 10,000 for third were awarded to winners in each category, presented by Dr. Sandip Ingle, Vice President of the Veterinary Council of India, and Dr. Thanigaivelu, a VCI member.
The event concluded with the announcement of the All India Veterinary Clinical Case Contest 2025, scheduled for September 28th, 2025, in Chennai.
