Keeping your feline friend well-groomed throughout the year is so important for her mental and physical well-being. So, whether you are a first-time pet parent or a pro, here are some handy grooming tips!

Water for Whisker Wellness

Just like you drink a lot of water for healthy and glowing skin, the same holds for your feline friend. Make sure to always provide plenty of fresh, cool water. Cats can become dehydrated quickly, especially in the upcoming hot weather, so make sure water bowls are accessible throughout your home.

Sun-Shady Business

Cats are sensitive to heat. Now that the sun-soaking weather has passed, it is recommended that you keep her indoors to avoid the harsh sun. While taking your feline friend out in the sun, apply pet-safe sunscreen to her ears and nose to protect her from sunburn, especially if your cat has light-colored fur. Ask your vet to know the best sunscreen for your pet.

Be aware of the signs of heatstroke, which include excessive panting, lethargy, and vomiting. If you notice these symptoms, seek veterinary assistance immediately

Grooming Guide 101

Regular brushing helps remove loose fur and can prevent overheating. Be gentle while brushing to avoid hurting your pet. You can ask your groomer or vet for any special tools or brushes that will be helpful for your at-home grooming sessions.

One essential grooming practice for cats is trimming. Make sure to never shave your cat’s coat as this will prove to be more harmful than beneficial.

• Heat Relief – Trimming your cat’s coat helps remove excess hair, reducing the risk of heatstroke and keeping them cool.

• Prevents Matting – Humidity can cause mats and tangles, leading to skin irritation. Trimming prevents these issues.

• Reduces Shedding – Trimming reduces shedding, minimizing the risk of hairballs, and keeps your home cleaner.

• Improves Hygiene – Trimming helps remove dirt, debris, and parasites like fleas and ticks.

Remember to always prioritize your feline friend’s safety and well-being.
