I am an engineer by profession, but my real story begins with Shiney—my Golden Retriever, my soulmate, my angel. She was not just a pet; she was the centre of my world. From the moment she came into my life, everything felt brighter. Her gentle eyes carried peace, her presence brought comfort, and her love was the kind that asked for nothing in return. Shiney was my family, my laughter, my reason to keep going through difficult days.
But life can be unbearably cruel. One day, without warning, Shiney left me. A sudden heart attack took her away, and my world collapsed. The silence in my home was heavier than anything I had ever felt. What broke me the most was that I couldn’t see her face one last time. That regret burned deeply in me, and I longed to bring her back somehow. I cried endlessly, night after night, unable to sleep. Yet within that pain, Shiney gave me one last gift—a spark.
That spark flowed through my veins and turned into a purpose. I decided to recreate Shiney, to give life to her memory in a form I could see and touch. That was the beginning of my journey with art.
A Timeless Keepsake: Handcrafted Pet Sculptures in Felt
Today, pet parents send me photographs of their beloved companions, and I recreate them with all the love I once poured into Shiney. I use soft imported merino wool to shape their fur, carefully layering each strand to capture the natural texture. For the finer details—the shine of the nose, the warmth of the tongue—I sculpt with polymer clay. Every element is chosen to make the portrait feel alive, to hold not just the image of the pet but their soul. Even though I am an engineer, I always make time for this art, because it is more than a craft to me—it is my passion, my healing, and Shiney’s legacy.
The Emotional Tie That Lasts Forever
When I work, I don’t just see a picture; I feel the bond, the joy, and sometimes even the grief of the family. Their emotions become my own, and with each creation I give back what I once wished for myself: the chance to see Shiney again.
Over time, I have created nearly fifty portraits for pet parents across India and abroad. Each one is different because every pet carries a unique soul. I’ve seen people cry tears of happiness when they hold their wool art portrait, and I’ve received messages saying my work helped them heal. In those moments, I feel Shiney beside me, guiding my hands, reminding me why I began. She remains the force behind every creation.
A Love Beyond Words
My life now is also blessed with a little Shih Tzu named Brownie, who is affectionate, playful, and deeply attached to me. She fills my days with warmth, and I often feel Shiney sent her to me to continue giving me the unconditional love that only dogs know how to give. Yet even with Brownie by my side, Shiney’s presence never leaves me. She is the silent partner in my journey, the soul behind my art.
Through this path, I’ve learned something profound: pets are not just a part of our lives. To us, they may be family, but to them, we are their whole world. Their time with us feels heartbreakingly short, yet in those years, they give us a love so deep it lasts a lifetime. That’s why I tell every pet parent to cherish the little moments—the wag of a tail, the warmth of a cuddle, the joy of playful mischief. These moments become memories, and memories become treasures when they are gone.
The Soulful Bond
I also believe our connection with dogs runs deeper than just this life. I often feel they are friends from a past life who find us again, to love us all over. That’s why the bond feels so unshakable—because it is timeless.
Looking back, I know that what began as my grief for Shiney has now become my calling. My art is not just about wool, clay, or portraits; it is about keeping love alive. Every creation is a tribute not only to a pet but to the unbreakable bond they share with their family.
Always in My Heart
For me, it will always be about Shiney. She is the hero of my story—the one who left too soon, but who gave me the strength to find purpose in pain. She taught me that love never dies; it only transforms. Through every portrait I create, I carry Shiney’s memory forward, and in doing so, I hope to bring comfort and joy to countless other pet parents who share the same kind of love I was blessed to have with her.
Shiney may no longer walk beside me, but she lives on in every creation, in every smile, in every tear of joy from those who receive my art. She will forever be my angel, my soulmate, and the true hero of my journey.
