Pedigree ‘Leading Vets’ campaign… wags off well

To spread more awareness about proper pet health care, Pedigree in association with Waltham – the world’s leading authority on pet care and nutrition, organized ‘Leading Vets,’ a continuous education programme, which was held at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai during June month. Leading vets and pet practitioners attended this informative event. 

The highlight of Delhi event was cataract surgery, which was performed by Dr B Jayaprasad at the end of the day. Dr Jayaprasad (MS, DO, DBN) is a pioneer Phaco surgeon of Kerala and has performed more than 25000 cataract sugeries in past 15 years. He has completed his professional studies in Medical College and Regional Institute of Opthalmology, Trivandrum. Recently he bagged the second best scientific presentation award at the 9th International Congress of Ophthalmology, held in Dubai for his paper on Phaco emulsification.

 

All dressed-up for pawrty!

Neha Panchamiya and Tanya Kane of The Paws Pack, a nascent pet management company and Dr Milind Hatekar, recently organized fancy dress party for Pune pooches. From the cocky Cocker Spaniels and lazy Labs to perky Pugs, all seemed game to shaking an eager paw as they walked the ramp, performed a trick or two, and offered proof of their obedience. All those who joined this unusual pawrty were enrolled in the Happy Tails Club formed by The Paws Pack. And owners were gifted with a monthly newsletter and special invites and discounts at future events.

Petcare honours PACE 2006 winner

Petcare, in association with PPAM (Pet Practitioners Association of Mumbai), recently organized PACE seminar in Mumbai and conferred PACE 2006 award to Dr D K Patil – a renowned pet practitioner in Vashi. He has done his post graduation in surgery from Bombay Veterinary College and is been practicing in Mumbai since last 20 years. 

This informative seminar was attended by around 70 pet-practitioners of Mumbai. Also present were Bharat Tandon, MD, Petcare; Dr C C Wakankar, president, PPAM; Maj Gen Dr R M Kharb, chairman, Animal Welfare Board of India; Dr Yathiraj, professor and head, veterinary college, Bangalore; and Dr Sandeep Karkhanis, GM, Petcare. At the event Organic Calcium as ProviCal.Pet was also released.

 

‘Pedigree’ seminar for breeders

Pedigree conducted a technical seminar on ‘Scientific approach towards canine breeding and life stage nutrition’ on June 27, 2007 at Rajouri Garden, New Delhi. Over 50 breeders, besides invitees from western Delhi, attended the seminar. Dr Gautam Anand and Dr Pankaj Lohan, veterinary business manager, Pedigree, gave interesting presentations.

 

Nationwide awareness programme from Vetnex

In order to create awareness about the dangerous external parasites, Vetnex has initiated a nationwide programme, Cisaflux Awareness Programme (CAP) for pet owners. The programme is aimed at increasing awareness about harmful effects of external parasites, environmental control measures to reduce parasite infestations and proper usage and precautions to be taken while using anti-parasitic products. National symposium on animal practice

The Pet Practitioners Association of Mumbai (PPAM) and Small Animal Veterinarians Association of Delhi are jointly organizing a national symposium on ‘Companion Animal Practice 2007’ and 6th World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) continuing education (CE) programme on December 1-2, 2007 at NASC Symposia Hall, Delhi. The symposium, themed ‘Advances in companion animal practice,’ will be conducted in four sessions and each session will be enriched with presentations from eminent speakers, covering topics such as diabetes, nephrology, dermatology, cardiology etc.
