I made and ate hot meals unmolested, I had unstained, unfired clothes. I had quiet conversations on the phone, even if the doorbell rang. Before I was a dog mom, I slept as late as I wanted. And never worried about how late I got to bed, or if I could get into my bed. Before I was a dog mom, I didn’t worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags, toilet paper, soap or deodorant were poisonous or…

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray this cushy life to keep. I pray for toys that look like mice, and sofa cushions, soft and nice. For grocery bags where I can hide, just like a tiger, crouched inside! I pray for gourmet kitty snacks, and someone nice to scratch my back. For windowsills, all warm and bright, for shadows to explore at night. I pray I’ll always stay real cool, and keep the secret…

I’m only a cat, and I stay in my place... Up there on your chair, on your bed or your face! I’m only a cat, and I don’t finick much... I’m happy with cream and anchovies and such! I’m only a cat, and we’ll get along fine... As long as you know I’m not yours... you’re all mine!

Big beautiful eyes and a sweet little nose, I will give you all my love if you keep me like a rose. Love and care is all I need, Being alert and chirpy is in my stead. With you I love to run and play, I will always be with you I will always stay. If ever you wish I will run like a horse or jump like a frog, I am none other than your faithful friend, I am your loving Valentine.
