I have a one-year-old female Siberian Husky. Her fur is not growing compared to other Huskies near my house and there is a huge amount of hair loss. Her diet contains of dog food, egg and we feed chicken two times a day. She is given a bath twice a month.
A healthy skin and coat is less likely to shed excessive hair. Unlike human beings, dogs hair growth cycle is different. For example, hair does not grow continuously in dogs. Skin and hair growth is influenced by genetics, breed, hormonal influence, stresses, nutrition, illness and numerous environmental factors. Daily brushing works best because it helps to get rid of all of your dogs loose hair. If you cant brush her every day, aim for at least two good brushings per week. A balanced diet that is rich in omega fatty acids, minerals like zinc and digestible proteins will keep your dogs coat strong and healthy, and will help decrease excessive shedding.
