My place to be…

262

I looked at my house,
I looked behind the brass windows and polished doors,
And all I saw was a vacuum of destitution.
And I thought to myself,
Is this my reality?
Is this the place I was meant to be?
Surrounded with these meaningless beautiful things,
Whose cold breath I shiver in.
A thousand breaths later,
In trooped my dog;
My two-year-old angel.
His barks clawed through the metal around me,
And the amore in his eyes,
It warmed the room with a radiance of its own.
And basking in that resplendence,
I found my haunt, my reality,
For his trust and faith in me,
Was what really made this life,
My place to be.
