They are often depicted as loyal companions of gods and sages, embodying qualities such as faithfulness, vigilance, and selflessness. From guarding celestial treasures to accompanying sages on their journeys, dogs represent unwavering devotion and the ability to navigate both the physical and spiritual realms. 1 Shyama:

In Hindu mythology, Shabala is the divine cow who provides unlimited resources to the sage Vasishtha. She is often depicted with a celestial dog named Shyama who guards her.

Sarama is a mythological dog in the Rigveda. She is known as the “dog of the gods” and helped the gods recover stolen cows from the demon Panis.

13 Hachiko:

Hachiko, an Akita dog from Japan, is known for his unwavering loyalty. After his owner’s death, he continued to wait at a train station daily for nearly 10 years, hoping for his owner’s return. His dedication captured the hearts of people and a statue was erected in his honor at Shibuya Station in Tokyo.

Laika, a stray dog from Moscow, was the first living being to orbit Earth aboard the Soviet spacecraft Sputnik 2 in 1957. Her sacrifice advanced our understanding of space travel but also raised ethical questions about animal testing.

In 1923, Bobbie, a Collie mix, got separated from his family during a cross-country trip and ended up lost in Indiana. Remarkably, after six months and over 2,800 miles, he made his way back to his family in Oregon, becoming a symbol of determination and loyalty.
