Agility training for your pooch

New deal at Pfizer

Boehringer Ingelheim, one of the leading global pharmaceutical group of companies, together with its US animal health business Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., has entered into an agreement with Pfizer to acquire certain assets of Wyeth Pharmaceutical’s Fort Dodge Animal Health business upon the closing of the global Pfizer-Wyeth merger, which is expected to occur early in the fourth quarter. This acquisition will strengthen Boehringer Ingelheim’s position as a vaccine supplier among the world’s top animal health companies. 

Prof Andreas Barner, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Boehringer Ingelheim says, “The widening of our Animal Health business and our product portfolio is not a sales-driven decision but rather is driven by the opportunity to add momentum to our strategy for organic growth since we will build more capabilities in the core vaccine segment and expand our already strong product lines. We look forward to applying our innovative culture to the products included in this acquisition.”

Witnessing a huge crowd, Pedigree Petday was held on 24th October at Palace Grounds in Bangalore. Participants comprising a gamut of breeds stole the show. And main attractions that pulled the crowd also included the performance by police dogs and commando kennels. A big applause to the show.

Pooches on the ramp

‘Hotel For Dogs’ fashion show was organised by Reliance Time Out (Ambience Mall) in association with PetCLubIndia.com. Grooming salon Scooby Scrub provided a free grooming set up at the venue. The judges to the show were Dr Geeta Sharma (Vet) and Preeti (Scooby Scrub). Over 65 participants (40 small breeds and 25 medium/large breeds) walked the ramp and won the applause of the viewers.

World Zoonosis Day celebrated

APC Pet’s Specialty Clinic & Referral Care recently celebrated World Zoonosis Day in Kolkata. The occasion was marked by giving anti-rabies vaccination to around 350 stray dogs.
